IE expo Chengdu 2026 is a major environmental technology trade fair to be held from June 10 to 12, 2026 in Chengdu, a city in southwestern China. The event stands out as the Western China edition of IE expo, the Chinese arm of IFAT, one of the world's most established environmental technology platforms. For companies active in water and wastewater treatment, solid waste recycling, air purification and general environmental management, the fair serves as a strategic gateway to the Sichuan province and the wider Western China market.
For Turkish companies investing in the environmental sector, this China fair offers valuable opportunities both to see new technologies up close and to build business connections in a rapidly growing regional market. In this guide on fuarsorgu.com, we have compiled everything you need to know about IE expo Chengdu 2026.
What Is IE expo and Why Does It Matter?
IE expo is the Chinese extension of the German-rooted IFAT brand. IFAT is regarded as one of the world's leading fair series in water, wastewater, waste and raw materials management. IE expo carries this heritage into the Asian market with editions in different cities such as Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu. The Chengdu edition focuses especially on environmental infrastructure investments in China's inland and western regions.
Also known as the Chengdu environmental fair, this event brings together municipalities, industrial enterprises and environmental engineering firms in the region. China's increasingly stringent environmental protection policies and carbon neutrality goals continue to raise the importance of such fairs each year. IE expo Chengdu, with hundreds of exhibiting companies and a broad professional audience, is one of the most notable sector gatherings in Western China.
The Environment, Water Treatment and Waste Management Sector and the Chinese Market
As China tackles the environmental challenges brought by rapid industrialization and urbanization, it is making enormous investments in water treatment and waste management. The Western China region in particular is developing its infrastructure more recently compared to the eastern coast, so there is strong demand for wastewater treatment plants, drinking water preparation systems and solid waste recycling projects. This creates a significant market for technology and equipment suppliers.
Sichuan province and its surroundings show growing interest in environmental technologies due to industrial investment and population density. Areas such as membrane technologies, pump and valve systems, water quality monitoring devices, sludge treatment equipment and air emission control solutions stand out in this market. IE expo Chengdu is held precisely where this demand intensifies, giving visibility to both local and international suppliers.
Who Should Visit the Fair?
IE expo Chengdu 2026 appeals to a broad professional audience. Municipal water and sewerage authorities, environmental engineering and contracting firms, environment and maintenance departments of industrial facilities, and waste management and recycling companies are among the groups that will benefit most from this fair. In addition, distributors, system integrators and technical consultancy firms can seek new sources of supply at the event.
For Turkish companies, this China fair is a productive market research environment especially for export-oriented water treatment equipment manufacturers, pump and valve producers, providers of filtration and membrane solutions, and technology firms developing environmental measurement devices. For newcomers to the sector, the fair offers an educational experience for observing global trends and the competitive landscape.
Exhibited Product and Technology Categories
IE expo Chengdu generally highlights four main thematic areas. The water and wastewater treatment section showcases pumps, valves, pipes, membranes, disinfection systems, sludge treatment and water quality monitoring equipment. The solid waste and recycling section features collection vehicles, sorting lines, composting and waste-to-energy technologies.
The air purification and emission control section presents flue gas treatment, dust collection and air quality monitoring solutions. In addition, soil remediation, environmental monitoring software and general environmental management services are also represented. This diversity allows visitors to evaluate a wide range of technologies under one roof.
Date, Location and Transportation
The fair will take place from June 10 to 12, 2026 in Chengdu. Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan province and one of the largest economic and logistics centers in Western China. The city is connected to many parts of the world through Chengdu Tianfu and Chengdu Shuangliu international airports. From Turkey, Chengdu is usually reachable with one connecting flight.
For in-city transport, an advanced metro network, taxis and app-based ride-hailing services are available. To reach the fairgrounds, it is recommended to follow up-to-date hall and shuttle information via the organizer's official website, ie-expo.com. In June, Chengdu generally has a mild and humid climate, so light clothing and a raincoat may be useful.
Opportunities and Tips for Turkish Companies
For Turkish environmental technology firms, IE expo Chengdu is a strategic platform to enter the western China market or strengthen existing connections. Before attending, clarifying target product groups, preparing a list of potential customers and distributors, and having English-Chinese promotional materials will increase the efficiency of meetings. For booth participation, it is advisable to plan budget and logistics early before reserving space.
Companies attending as visitors can create appointment requests in advance to schedule meetings with exhibitors of interest. In Chinese business culture, building relationships and trust is important; therefore follow-up emails and post-fair communication hold value for medium-term collaborations rather than short-term results. Support from an interpreter or local business partner can provide a significant advantage in negotiations.
Visit Preparation: Visa and Accommodation
Turkish citizens generally need to complete visa procedures in advance to travel to China. Since visa types and required documents may be updated from time to time, it is important to confirm the latest information from China's official representations in Turkey or authorized visa centers. A fair invitation or participation document may be requested in business visa applications, so it is helpful to obtain these from the organizer early.
In terms of accommodation, Chengdu has a wide range of hotels. Because occupancy in central hotels near the fairgrounds may rise during fair periods, it is wise to book early. The city is also known for its cuisine and attractions such as the panda research center; setting aside a few extra days when planning your business trip can enrich your experience both culturally and commercially.
